Bengaluru: The toll for all categories of vehicles on Ballari Road has been increased. Cars, taxies and light motor vehicles had been spared the hike last year.

The increase is Rs. 5 for light motor vehicles and light commercial vehicles. While the hike is minimal for smaller vehicles, buses and trucks will see an increase of Rs. 15 for both categories: single journey and return journey.

The price of monthly passes for cars goes up by Rs. 115 while the price of monthly passes for light commercial vehicles is up by Rs. 175.

Buses and lorries will bear the brunt of the hikes as the toll fees has been increased by Rs. 15 for a single journey and return journey pass and Rs. 355 for a monthly pass.

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), which operates the Vayu Vajra premium bus services to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has in the past hiked fares in line with the hike in toll fees.

This might be the case this time around as well, since the corporation will have to consider a fare hike to meet the increased costs of operations.
