Bengaluru police are investigating a tour operator accused of defrauding a city resident of ₹64,000 by falsely promising a trip to Uttar Pradesh for the Kumbh Mela.

The suspect, identified as Rakesh, claimed to operate a travel agency based in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. According to officials, the victim, Pradeep K, received a call from Rakesh on January 18 regarding a tour package to Prayagraj.

Trusting the offer, Pradeep transferred ₹64,000 in multiple transactions after receiving assurances about the booking. The suspect maintained contact until January 25, after which Pradeep realized he had been deceived. He promptly filed a complaint with Jnanabharathi police on January 26.

A case has been registered, and authorities have launched an investigation to trace the suspect and recover the funds.
