Bengaluru: Traffic restrictions and diversions will be in place across Bengaluru on Friday in view of Eid-ul-Fitr prayers, with authorities expecting large congregations at multiple locations across the city.

The Bengaluru Traffic Police has announced detailed curbs to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and maintain public safety during the festive gatherings.

Heavy footfall expected at key prayer locations

Officials said that Eid prayers are likely to draw crowds of 15,000 to 20,000 people at prominent locations, particularly near BB Junction on Mysuru Road and the BBMP playground in Chamarajpet.

Due to the expected surge in footfall, vehicular movement on Mysuru Road will be restricted from 8 am until the conclusion of prayers.

Mysuru Road restrictions and diversions

The following stretches will face restrictions:

  • Mysuru Road from Tollgate Junction to Town Hall via BB Junction and BGS flyover
  • Route from Town Hall towards Mysuru Road via BGS flyover up to Tollgate Junction

Alternative routes

From Mysuru Road to Town Hall:

  • Left at Kengeri Junction → Chord Road
  • Right at Toll Gate (Magadi Road)
  • Right at Hunasemara Junction → Left at Sirsi Circle

From Town Hall to Mysuru Road:

  • Heavy vehicles: Service road under BGS flyover → Right at Veterinary Junction → Goods Shed Road
  • Light vehicles: Right at Sirsi Junction → JJ Nagar → Tank Bund Road → Binny Mill Junction → Hunasemara → Magadi Road → Left at Toll Gate → Chord Road

Basavanagudi/Chamarajpet to Majestic:

  • Via 1st Main Road → 5th Cross → Mysuru Road → Veterinary Junction → Goods Shed Road

Restrictions in north and central Bengaluru

Traffic curbs will also be enforced between Nagawara and Pottery Circle from 5 am to 2 pm.

Alternative routes:

  • Nagawara to Shivajinagar: Hennur Road → HBR 80 ft Road → Chandrika Junction → Lingarajapuram flyover → Pulakeshinagar → Robertson Road → Haines Road
  • Shivajinagar to Nagawara: Spencer Road → Coles Road → Veerasandra Road → Hennur/Banasawadi → Nagawara
  • RT Nagar to Kaval Bairasandra: Via Pushpanjali Talkies → Veeranna Palya → Nagawara

Parking restrictions:

  • No parking allowed from Pottery Circle to Nagawara Junction
  • Designated parking arrangements will be available near Eidgah grounds and mosques on nearby roads

Restrictions near Millers Road stretch

Traffic restrictions will also be in place from 8 am to 12 pm in central Bengaluru, particularly around:

  • Old Udaya TV Junction to Millers Road
  • St John’s Church Road and adjoining intersections
  • Nandidurga Road junctions

Alternative routes:

  • Bamboo Bazaar → Netaji Road → Promenade Road → Haines Road
  • Cantonment Road → Queens Road → Jayamahal Road
  • Benson Cross Road → Bore Bank Road → Haines Road

Parking rules:

  • No parking will be permitted on Millers Road during the restricted hours

Authorities have urged motorists to plan their travel in advance, follow diversion routes, and cooperate with traffic personnel deployed across the city.
