Bengaluru: Traffic restrictions and temporary vehicle movement bans will be in place in parts of Bengaluru on Sunday due to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city, according to an advisory issued by the Bengaluru Traffic Police.
The restrictions will mainly affect areas under the HAL Traffic Police limits, with authorities urging commuters to avoid affected stretches and use alternative routes to prevent delays and congestion.
Vehicle movement banned on key HAL roads
As part of the security arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit, police said movement of all types of vehicles will be temporarily prohibited on HAL Airport Exit Road.
The restriction will apply from Old Airport Road up to the DGCA Office on both sides of the road.
Similarly, traffic movement will also be restricted on HAL Airport Gate 30 Road, beginning from Umbrella Junction up to Gate 30 on both sides.
Officials stated that the temporary curbs are necessary to ensure smooth movement and security arrangements during the Prime Minister’s travel in the city.
Restrictions on NICE Road
Apart from the HAL region, traffic restrictions have also been imposed on NICE Road between 9 am and 3 pm on Sunday.
Motorists have been advised to plan their journeys in advance and avoid travelling through affected areas during the restricted period wherever possible.
Traffic police warned that congestion and delays are likely on connecting roads and junctions due to diversions and increased security deployment.
Parking prohibited in several stretches
Police have also announced parking restrictions in multiple areas connected to the Prime Minister’s route.
Parking will be prohibited on the following roads:
- Old Airport Road: From SD Road Junction to Trinity Junction
- HAL Airport Gate 30 Road: From Umbrella Junction to Gate 30
- HAL Airport Exit Road: From Old Airport Road to DGCA Office
Authorities stated that illegally parked vehicles in restricted zones may be towed away to ensure uninterrupted traffic movement and security operations.
Commuters advised to use alternative routes
The Bengaluru Traffic Police requested citizens to cooperate with officials and follow traffic advisories issued during the Prime Minister’s visit.
Motorists travelling towards HAL, Old Airport Road, Trinity Junction and surrounding areas have been advised to start early and use alternate roads to minimise inconvenience.
Commuters heading towards the airport and eastern parts of Bengaluru are also expected to experience delays because of security checks and route diversions.
Police personnel will be deployed across major junctions to manage traffic flow and assist commuters.
Security tightened ahead of PM’s visit
Security arrangements have been intensified across Bengaluru ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival, with multiple agencies coordinating movement and crowd management.
Senior police officials are expected to monitor traffic and security arrangements throughout the visit.
Authorities have appealed to the public to remain patient and cooperate with police personnel during the temporary restrictions.
Further updates regarding route diversions and traffic movement are expected to be issued by Bengaluru Traffic Police depending on security requirements and crowd conditions on Sunday.
