Traffic police receive 1.5 lakh cases through public eye app

Bengaluru: The city traffic police received as many as 1.50 lakh complaints of traffic rule violations in the year 2019 through Public Eye app. Among them, 1.10 lakh vehicle drivers have been asked to pay penalty.

The complaints include parking in the no-parking zone, triple riding, helmet-less driving etc. The total number of complaints registered are 1,52,173.

According to the authorities, a total of 1,26,099 residents downloaded this app. In the last five years, a total of 3,28,441 complaints are lodged through the public eye. Among them, 2,27,391 complaints were found genuine and action has been initiated.

According to the authorities, in the year 2018, an average of 166 complaints was lodged through this app by the public. It went to 417 in 2019.

Additional commissioner BR Ravikanthegowda informed that Public Eye is helping the people to lodge a complaint directly and helping the department to initiate action against erring drivers.
