Bengaluru: Technology has now become an integral part of the Bengaluru police department and as new addition to this trend, the cops are all set to track down the signal flouters with their smartphones.
Yes, 88 special smartphones have been distributed to traffic police on Monday, with a special ‘rules violation registration’ app which helps to shoot the visuals of signal breakers and impose fine on them.
Police officials who perform duty in important circles and roads will carry the smartphones. If anyone tries to escape after flouting rules, the cops can shoot videos and upload it with the registration number of the vehicle.
This information will be registered at the traffic control centre’s server. The staff in the centre will scrutinize the information and would send fine receipts to the respective drivers.
“Most of the flouted drivers escape from police. If the police write down the registration number on paper and try to impose fine, they ask proof. We may not have any proof all the time. So, for the documentation along with the proof, we are distributing smartphones with special apps,” said a senior officer of the traffic division.
