
Tragedy in Navur: Domestic Dispute Turns Deadly, Ends in Murder-Suicide
Badagundi, Navur village (Bantwal): A heart-wrenching incident unfolded under the jurisdiction of Bantwal Rural Police Station between 11:00 PM on June 18 and 8:00 AM on June 19, 2025. A domestic quarrel between a couple ended in a gruesome murder-suicide.
Thimmappa Rama Moolya (52) reportedly got into an argument with his wife Jayanthi (45) over a seemingly minor issue. The disagreement quickly escalated into violence. In a fit of rage, Thimmappa allegedly strangled Jayanthi, causing her death on the spot.
Following the horrifying act, Thimmappa is said to have taken his own life by hanging himself from a hook on the kitchen wall. The shocking double death has shaken the local community, leaving family members and neighbours in disbelief.
Two separate cases have been registered in connection with the incident. One case (UDR No. 72/2025 under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita) was filed based on a complaint by the deceased Jayanthi’s younger sister, Mrs. Sujatha (40), a resident of Farangipet.
A second report (UDR No. 25/2025 under Section 194 BNSS) was registered following a complaint by Thimmappa’s elder brother, Mr. Vishwanath (55) from Sajipa Mood in Bantwal.
Police investigations are underway to understand the complete circumstances behind the tragic event. Authorities have urged citizens to seek help and counselling in times of emotional distress.
