A 32-year-old man, Ratan Kumar from Kadirayyanapalya, was fatally injured in a road mishap involving a BMTC bus on Old Madras Road, East Bengaluru, on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred near the BDA complex around 11:24 a.m. when Kumar, riding his two-wheeler (KA 03 KG 6081), attempted to pass the BMTC bus (KA 57 F 5363) from the right side along the service lane.

As he approached, Kumar encountered an obstruction in the opposite lane—a parked goods vehicle—forcing him to brake suddenly to avoid a collision. However, the abrupt stop caused him to lose control of his bike, and he tragically fell under the rear wheel of the moving bus. He sustained severe injuries and succumbed to them at the scene.

The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) conveyed its sorrow over the unfortunate event and extended its sympathies to Kumar’s family, noting that the bus was being driven at a low speed when the accident occurred. Authorities are investigating the circumstances leading to this fatal accident, as BMTC continues to emphasize road safety measures.

This incident highlights the importance of cautious driving, especially in congested areas, to prevent tragic losses like this.
