Bengaluru: A fatal road accident claimed the lives of a man and a woman when the Tata Ace vehicle they were travelling in was crushed between two heavy trailers on the Tumakuru-Bengaluru highway on Sunday evening.

The incident took place around 5 pm near Budihal Gate bus stop in Nelamangala taluk. As per the Nelamangala Traffic Police, the chain collision began when a goods trailer heading toward the city suddenly braked near the bus stop. The Tata Ace, trailing close behind, had to slow down quickly. Tragically, a Benz trailer coming from behind failed to stop in time and rammed into the Tata Ace, sandwiching it between the two massive vehicles.

The impact was devastating. Triveni (25), seated beside the driver, died instantly. Her relative, Shivakumar (30), who was in the rear of the vehicle, sustained critical injuries and later succumbed at the hospital. The driver, Veerabhadra, believed to be in his 40s, was also injured but narrowly escaped with his life.

All three were residents of Bommasandra and originally from Madakasira in Andhra Pradesh. Authorities suspect they were in the process of relocating, as the Tata Ace was loaded with furniture and household items.

The crash caused heavy traffic congestion on the Bengaluru-bound stretch, with vehicles backed up for hours.
