In a heartbreaking turn of events, a 20-year-old student named Ayyappa took his own life (suicide) in Bengaluru after his mother allegedly refused to buy him a new bike. The incident occurred on Wednesday within the Hennur police station limits. Ayyappa was a second-year B.Sc. student at a private college and a resident of Thanisandra.
The student’s mother, who has been working as a housekeeper since his father’s death six years ago, had managed to save ₹50,000 for the bike. However, Ayyappa was unaware of her financial sacrifice. Despite her efforts and the financial strain, he continued to press her for the bike, particularly feeling left out as his friends had theirs.
Police reports indicate that Ayyappa was found hanging from the ceiling when his mother returned home from work in the late afternoon. His body was subsequently taken to Ambedkar Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The investigation is ongoing, and further details are awaited.
