In Bengaluru, a heart-wrenching tragedy unfolded early Tuesday when an elderly woman was fatally hit by a speeding vehicle along the Outer Ring Road in the city’s western sector. Authorities suspect that the victim was approximately 65 years old; however, this remains unconfirmed as she was not carrying any identification documents.
Investigators noted that the woman was in possession of a bag containing dog food and refuse, prompting them to believe that she might have been involved in dog breeding. The fatal accident occurred at about 1:30 AM near the Dr. Babu Jagjivanram Bhavan, as she was steadily walking in the direction of the Sumanahalli flyover.
According to a formal complaint registered with the Kamakshipalya traffic police, a red car was barreling down from the Laggere area towards Sumanahalli when it collided with her. The impact resulted in severe trauma to her face and head, leading to her untimely death. Witnesses and nearby residents have reported the sound of a high-speed vehicle just before the incident, intensifying concerns about road safety measures on the Outer Ring Road.
Local law enforcement is now actively searching for the red vehicle, as it remains untraced. Meanwhile, officials have assured the public that they will intensify their efforts to crack down on speeding and other traffic violations in the area. Community members, shocked by the incident, are calling for enhanced measures to protect pedestrians, especially during the early hours when visibility is low.
