A devastating incident in Bengaluru’s Yeddyurappa Nagar area has resulted in the deaths of four family members, raising suspicions of a murder-suicide linked to financial difficulties. The deceased have been identified as Avinash (33), his wife Mamatha (29), and their daughters Adhira (4) and Anaya (2). The family had been residing in the area near Yelahanka for the past six years.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Mamatha may have strangled her daughters before taking her own life on Sunday. Avinash, who worked as a cab driver, is believed to have died by suicide after discovering the bodies. The tragedy was uncovered on Monday around 9:30 am when Avinash’s younger brother, Udhay Kumar, returned from Kalaburagi and found the family dead.

While Udhay typically stayed with his brother’s family, he had been away for the weekend. Following the discovery, the police filed a murder case against Mamatha and registered unnatural death cases for both her and Avinash. Officers indicated that the investigation is ongoing, but initial findings point to significant debts the family was struggling to manage.

Avinash’s cousin, Dattu Rathore, denied any marital discord within the family but noted that Avinash had recently approached their uncle for financial assistance regarding a credit card payment, suggesting they were facing financial pressure.

This heartbreaking incident underscores the profound impacts of financial stress on families and serves as a stark reminder of the importance of mental health support.
