Tragic Road Accident on Ballari Road Claims Lives of Three Students
In a heartbreaking incident early Thursday morning, three students lost their lives in a road accident on the Chikkajala flyover on Ballari Road near the fort. The victims—Suchith, Rohith, and Harsha, all fourth-year BSc Agriculture students at GKVK—were aged between 22 and 23 years.
According to Chikkajala traffic police, the accident occurred around 1:30 am when the trio was riding a motorcycle towards the city. The crash happened as Suchith, the driver, attempted to switch lanes at high speed and collided with a heavy goods vehicle. Shortly after the collision, an unidentified vehicle struck the fallen students and fled the scene. The police are still searching for this absconding driver and their vehicle.
The students died instantly from the injuries sustained in the crash. “They likely suffered severe injuries upon impact with the goods vehicle,” an official from the Chikkajala traffic police stated. The exact speed at which they were traveling remains unknown.
The police have filed a case under sections 106 (causing death by negligence) and 281 (rash driving) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
