Bengaluru: From Wednesday December 1, travelling by autorickshaw will become more expensive in the City.
According to sources, the Karnataka Regional Transport Authority (RTA) on November 6 has decided to increase the minimum fare from Rs. 25 to Rs. 30. As per the revised rate, for every additional kilometre, the fare will go up from the current Rs. 13 to Rs. 15. There will be also 50 per cent premium on night rides from 10.00 pm to 5.00 am.
Autorickshaw drivers, on the other hand, will have until February 2022 to recalibrate metres. From Tuesday November 30, the Transport Department will distribute revised fare cards to all drivers, and the Legal Metrology Department will begin recalibration of metres on Wednesday.
According to sources, the maximum autorickshaw rate (for a distance of 25 kilometres) would rise from Rs. 325 to Rs. 375.
