Bengaluru: As the political crisis in Karnataka is intensifying following the mass resignation of over 13 MLAs from the Congress and Janata Dal (S), ‘troubleshooter’ of Congress-JDS state coalition government, State Water Resource Minister D K Shivakumar, too had failed in convincing the rebel MLAs. As he continues to stabilize the turmoil that has struck the coalition, he has assured that he would not backstab Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy.
Speaking to media, here on Sunday, July 7, after having met JDS Supremo H D Deve Gowda, he said, “Any decision that is taken by the leaders of the state coalition will be welcomed and we will abide by that. I will not betray CM HDK or backstab him. He will only continue as the CM for the remaining four years. We have also promised him on this. Hence the question of backing off does not arise.”
Speaking about his next strategy on winning the confidence of the rebel MLAs, he said, “We are preparing a medicine as per the need of the hour, to heal the wound caused to state coalition. We will operate and heal them.”
“We have CM HDK’s Political Secretary Muniappa with us. As we leaders have conducted several meetings, he too is indulged in it. We are confident that everything will be back to normal.”
Criticizing the state Bharatiya Janata Party leaders, for their statements of ‘we’ll form the government’, he said, “At first the state BJP leaders said, they’ll not form the government, now they say they will. On the other hand, their Central leaders are demanding for re-election. They are closing their eyes and drinking milk like cats.”
Meanwhile, he has refrained to answer the questions asked by the media personnel on what the remedy was.
