Bengaluru: Two women sustained serious injuries after a tree fell on them on Tuesday night in the Gayathri Nagar area of the city.
A local resident by name Puja and an unidentified person, who were standing in front of a jewellery shop to buy gold, sustained serious head injuries when a tree fell on them. The locals came to their rescue and took them to a private hospital, where they were treated for their injuries and discharged.
According to the BBMP control room sources, tree falling incidents have been reported from at least 12 places across the city during the evening showers. As per the initial reports, five cars and two bikes were damaged in these incidents. “In one case, the driver was inside the car when the tree fell. Fortunately, nothing happened to him,” said authorities.
Meanwhile, heavy rainfall was reported from the HSR Layout, Madiwala, Kumaraswamy Layout, Girinagar, Banashankari, Padmanabhanagar, Chamarajapet and other areas. Water clogging was reported from several places and in Bhadrappa the layout, the underpass was blocked due to the same.
