A tree collapse on Kumara Krupa Road near Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s residence in Bengaluru early Wednesday morning damaged a moving vehicle but fortunately caused no injuries.
The incident occurred around 6:30 AM, directly opposite the CM’s residence, Cauvery, according to officials from the High Grounds police station. A Tempo Traveller carrying tourists was struck by the falling tree. The passengers had a narrow escape, with police confirming that no one was hurt.
“There have been no injuries, and no formal complaint has been lodged yet,” said a police officer from the High Grounds station.
The event raises concerns about urban tree safety, especially during monsoon season when such incidents become more frequent due to weakened root structures and strong winds. The area, being close to key government establishments, has high vehicular movement and pedestrian traffic, adding to the gravity of such occurrences.
Though no casualties were reported this time, citizens have often called for better maintenance of roadside trees, regular pruning, and stricter urban safety protocols to prevent such mishaps.
Authorities are yet to clear the fallen tree or assess whether additional nearby trees pose similar risks. As Bengaluru grapples with infrastructure issues amid rains and civic works, such events underscore the need for preventive care in public spaces.
