Bengaluru: Trio World Academy celebrated Regional Languages day on Thursday with an objective to provide students an opportunity to explore the rich and diverse culture of our country.  Dressed elegantly in ethnic and traditional costumes, the students, teachers and parents actively participated in the event.
Various activities were conducted where students recited folk poems and explained the cultural heritage of their states in their regional languages followed by group dance and other fun-filled activities. The highlight of the event was in the afternoon were parents had put up 9 regional food stalls, from Tulunadu’s delicacy of Neer Dosa and chutney, to Punjab’s favorite dish Chole Bature.

The platter of sumptuous mouth-watering food from Tulunadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Himachal, Karnataka, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Orissa states was enjoyed by the students and teachers alike.  All the parents were enthusiastic and encouraged the spirit of the students through which they experienced a practical learning of the cultural heritage of different states of India.

A parent who had put up a stall said “One strives to learn different languages for a variety of reasons especially in the school as it has the ability to reach out to students of different cultures.  Students get to enjoy social and economic benefits, as well as mental benefits by learning a new language”. She further added “my son will now be able to recognize different languages and associate a unique specialty in it”

“By celebrating regional language day, we intend to create a unity and harmony among our students. It gives them an opportunity to understand other languages and each of its uniqueness.  By learning different languages child’s ability to multi task develops and memory is also improved. The money collected will be spent towards buying grocery and essential items for the inmates of the old age home that we will be visiting during Diwali,” said Ms Padma Sekar, ICSE coordinator at Trio World Academy.
