Tumkur: Lakhs of devotees and followers across the country had flown in to pay their last respect to the Siddaganga Pontiff Late Shree Shivakumara Swamiji. Amid this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi who is also a follower of the seer was expected to reach the Siddaganga Matt and pay his last respects. But due to security reasons, Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reached the matt as a representative from the Centre, here on Tuesday, January 22.
Nirmala Sitharaman arrived at the specially crafted helipad for VVIP at a distance from the matt. Later, she made her way towards the Siddaganga Museum Grounds where the mortal remains of the Shivakumara Swamiji was kept.
She was accompanied by RSS leader Santhosh Kumar and other BJP leaders from the Centre as well as the state.
Nirmala Sitharaman later received the blessings of the junior pontiff of Siddaganga Matt Siddalinga Mahaswami and other seers of different matts before leaving for Delhi.
