Tumakuru: Moved by the news that Late IAS officer D K Ravi’s mother had pawned her ornaments to perform rituals of Ravi’s first death anniversary, a Whatsapp group called ‘nenapu’ made humble contributions to help the family in their own small way.
‘Nenapu’ was started by two youths Sundar Raj Naik and Maruthi- Village Accounts (VAs) with the Revenue Department, from Challakere in Chitradurga and the group raised Rs 5,500 from 47 of its members.
It remitted the amount to the SB account of Ravi’s mother Gowramma at Huliyurudurga branch of SBM.
Two VAs Meena and Gayathri from Kolar district, where Ravi was posted before he assumed charge as Assistant Commissioner of Commercial Tax in Bengaluru too contributed their bit, he said.
The group members are Revenue Department officials and their friends from different fields in Chitradurga, Tumakuru and Davanagere districts.
