Tumakuru: Mining-affected threaten vote boycott

Tumakuru: The villagers, shaken by the stone quarrying by the powerful, have warned that they will boycott the vote. Ahobala Agrahara, Chinivaranahalli, Jakkenahalli, Muddaramana palya and surrounding areas under Kora hobli (Koratagere assembly constituency) in Tumakuru taluk have suffered a lot of casualties and injuries due to the mining carried out by the powerful people. Fed up with the problem faced by regular mining, the villagers have threatened to boycott voting till mining is stopped.

The district administration has given permission for quarrying of Dhanalakshmi Crusher stone at Obaladevara Gutte in Survey No. 172 of Ahobala Agrahara village. Rampant mining here has led to many diseases. The walls of several houses have cracked. He appealed to the authorities to stop heavy mining but to no avail. He accused the authorities of remaining silent.
The villagers have threatened to boycott the vote by putting up banners. A total of 3330 voters participated in the protest.
