Tumakuru: It is alleged that due to the negligence of the Forest Department, an incident took place near Nama Chilume on Monday May 1, in which a poor labourer was killed.
Ranganath (22), a resident of Thimmanayak near Durgadahalli was working in a factory in the city. On his way home after work, the young man died on the spot due to an accident when he did not notice a tree lying on the road.
On Saturday a tree fell down on the road due to rain. Although this news came to the attention of the Forest Department, they showed negligence by not clearing the tree. On Monday night, there was a situation where it was not possible to see due to rain. At that time, his bike collided with a fallen tree and he died.
He is the only son of his parents. Hearing the news of his death, the family members were distraught.
The Forest Department should be directly responsible for this death and compensation should be given to the family members of the deceased youth, the villagers alleged and demanded. And action should be taken against Forest Divisional Officer and Staff who have committed dereliction of duty, it is urged.
