Tumkuru: Ex. Member of legislative council Prof. SR Leela said, “Creating an environment conducive to the advancement of women is the responsibility of society.”
Inaugurating the International Women’s Day program hosted by the Tumkur University Women’s Study Center, she gave a special lecture and said women are part of society, discrimination on the basis of gender is not acceptable. Men and women are equals.
“Although women are still harassed, the situation has improved slightly,” she added.
Vice-Chancellor of Tumkur University Colonel Prof. YS. Siddegowda said, “Despite all of the challenges she faces in society, women made a significant contribution in every field.”
