Bengaluru witnessed two major fire incidents this week, raising alarms about industrial safety and emergency preparedness.
In the early hours of Tuesday, a massive fire broke out at an oil depot in Nelamangala, near Adakamaranahalli, reportedly owned by Shell Company. The blaze, suspected to be triggered by a short circuit, erupted around 3 AM, swiftly spreading across the depot.
Firefighters from Nelamangala, Peenya, and Yeshwanthpur responded quickly, deploying eight fire engines to douse the flames. The situation is now under control. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported. The incident is being probed by Madanayakanahalli Police, under whose jurisdiction the depot falls.
In a separate incident, a fierce fire engulfed a warehouse in Hebbagudi, on Thursday evening. Flames rapidly consumed the entire facility. However, employees present were safely evacuated, avoiding injury.
Six fire tenders were dispatched to the scene, and after intense firefighting, the blaze was brought under control. Investigations are underway to determine the cause.
Both incidents serve as a stark reminder of the importance of fire safety protocols, especially in high-risk zones such as oil depots and warehouses.
