Bengaluru: Two police inspectors of the Bengaluru City Police have been suspended following a departmental inquiry that found them negligent in performing their official duties.

Details of suspensions

The suspended officers are:

  • Hanumanth K, Inspector at Halasuru Gate Police Station in the Central Division
  • SLR Reddy, Inspector at Koramangala Police Station in the South East Division

Sources said Hanumanth was suspended for lapses in maintaining law and order within his jurisdiction, as well as shortcomings in the investigation of cases and other duties.

Meanwhile, Inspector Reddy faced suspension after multiple complaints from residents regarding pubs in his area operating beyond permissible hours and playing loud music, which the officer allegedly failed to address.

Departmental inquiry

The Bengaluru City Police conducted a departmental inquiry into the alleged negligence of both officers. Based on the findings, the authorities decided to suspend them as a measure to maintain accountability and ensure proper law enforcement in their respective areas.

Maintaining law and order

Bengaluru, as one of India’s major urban centres, faces challenges in law and order management due to its rapid urbanisation, nightlife, and commercial activities. Police officials emphasised that disciplinary action against negligent officers is essential to maintain public trust and ensure adherence to regulations.
