Bengaluru: Two police personnel who were accompanying Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy’s car sustained injuries when their vehicle toppled near Shankar falls, 5 kilometers away from Aldur town in Chikkamagaluru district on Saturday, May 4 evening.
According to sources, CM H D Kumaraswamy, his father, former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, his wife Chennamma and PWD Minister H D Revanna were returning to Hassan after performing Homas at the Kudnelli Uma Maheshwara temple on the banks of the River Tunga on Saturday. The police were escorting the family.
Near Shankar falls, the driver lost control on the wheels and the vehicle toppled.
Confirming the incident, the Chikkamagaluru police said, “Both the officers have sustained minor injuries. They are being treated at the Chikkamagaluru District Hospital,” said a police officer.
Meanwhile, on Friday night and Saturday, H D Deve Gowda’s family performed various Yagas and Homas at this temple. Mobile was strictly banned in the 100 meter radius of the temple to ensure that no one could click the pictures. Even the police on security duty were asked to switch off their mobile phones.
