Bengaluru: The Banaswadi police have arrested two men for allegedly assaulting a woman. The police have identified the accused as Ayub Ali and Ricky alias Thimmanna Uttappa. The police have also seized the car used by the accused.
According to the police, a 21-year-old woman was allegedly drugged by a group of men at a bar on Friday night and took her in a car towards their house on Kammanahalli Road and assaulted her on the way before abandoning her on the road.
The police said the woman was found by a resident in the neighborhood on Saturday and took her to his house. After she regained conscious, he alerted her friends. Later, she filed a complaint with women’s police station which referred the complaint to Banaswadi police on January 15.
Based on the woman’s statement, the police on Wednesday have arrested two men, one a student from Yemen, and charged them under Section 354 of IPC.
According to the police, the woman, who hails from the North East, works at a BPO in the city. It was said she went to the pub to meet her friends, but they did not turn up. The accused, who were known to the victim, approached her and reportedly offered her a drink laced with a sedative, the police said.
