Bengaluru: The Halasuru Gate police have registered a case against two people for handing over a packet of diabetes pills to an accused in the Bengaluru serial bomb blast case at a court hall complex in the city.
The police have identified the two men as Sharath Kumar, a resident of R.R. Nagar, and his associate Sanjay, 25.
Police Inspector Maruthi S.E. and his team had escorted 19 undertrials of the case from Central Jail, Parappana Agrahara to a special court for a hearing. While they were waiting outside the court hall, Sharath and Sanjay — who were posing as visitors — approached Abdul Khader, accused number 29 in the blast case. They allegedly tried to hand over a packet of pills to him.
Sharath and Sanjay have been booked under Section 42 of the Karnataka Prisoners Rule. The tablets have been sent to the forensic lab for testing.
“The undertrials are under high security cover. We are further investigating the background of Sharath Kumar to find out who had assigned him the task of handing over the pills to Khader,” said the police. The police have asked the Prison Department for Khader’s medical records to see if he is suffering from diabetes.
