Bengaluru: The Marathahalli police have nabbed two employees of JP Morgan, a global leader in financial services, on the charges of misappropriating Rs. 12.15 crore.
“The incident took place on August 24, 2017. We have received a complaint from JP Morgan recently,’’ Commissioner of Police T Suneel Kumar told reporters on Monday.
The police have succeeded in seizing Rs 8,14,90,488 from the bank accounts of the accused persons. The police have identified the accused as Maruthi N alias Ramu Chandrappa, 22, and Suresh Babu N, 28.
The Commissioner of Police has announced Rs 50,000 cash award to the special police team led by Marathahalli Police Inspector M Nagaraj for detecting the crime.
“Both of them were working at the accounts department of JP Morgan. They were absconding after transferring the amount to their accounts. A special police team nabbed Maruthi from Chennai,’’ the Commissioner of Police said.
After committing the crime, the accused bought three acres of land near Doddaballapur and a four-storied building near Kothanur.
“The police have seized the documents of the land and building from the accused persons,’’ he said.
The police have also seized Rs 31,50,000 cash, 470 gm of gold jewellery and four kgs of silver ornaments from the accused persons.
“A case has been registered at Marathahalli police station against the accused under Sections 408, 409, 420 and 120 (B) of the Indian Penal Code,’’ Police Inspector M Nagaraj said.
