Two women have been arrested by Bengaluru Police for allegedly operating a prostitution racket from rented houses in the city, officials said on Thursday.

The arrests were carried out by the Women Protection Squad of the Central Crime Branch following a tip-off regarding illegal activities in Ajith Nagar and Vidhyaman Nagar areas.

Raids conducted after tip-off

According to police, officers conducted raids at multiple rented houses after receiving information that women were allegedly being forced into prostitution.

During the operation, police rescued three women who were reportedly engaged in prostitution activities.

Officials said the two accused women were taken into custody during the raids.

Accused allegedly contacted clients by phone

According to a statement issued by the office of Seemant Kumar Singh, the accused allegedly confessed during questioning that they contacted customers over phone calls and arranged prostitution services from rented properties.

Police stated that the women were allegedly running the operation to earn money through illegal activities.

Investigation underway

Cases have been registered at the Soladevanahalli Police Station and Byadarahalli Police Station.

Officials said further investigation is currently in progress to identify additional links connected to the alleged racket.

Police have not yet disclosed whether more individuals are suspected to be involved in the operation
