Ahead of the II PU examinations, which begin on Saturday, March 4, and run through March 20, the Udupi district administration is making extensive preparations to improve student performance and secure the top position in the state. District Commissioner Vidya Kumari K shared these updates with the press on Friday, highlighting the proactive measures taken to boost the district’s overall results.
Aiming for Top Spot with Improved Strategies
In the previous academic year, Udupi secured the second position with a remarkable 98.6% pass rate. However, the administration is now focused on ensuring that the district clinches the first position this year. To support this goal, special classes were conducted throughout the academic year, and efforts to identify poor-performing students have been prioritized. A unique initiative involves pairing low-performing students with top achievers for peer learning.
One of the key strategies implemented is the morning wake-up call initiative, which encourages students to begin studying by 5 a.m. every day, setting a disciplined study routine. The resource centre of the Udupi Zilla Panchayat has also been providing special coaching for difficult subjects like mathematics and other science topics through online classes. Additionally, recorded lessons have been sent to students to help them with challenging subjects.
Focus on Better Exam Environment
The district administration is leaving no stone unturned in ensuring a smooth exam process. Separate meetings with principals of all PU colleges have been held to discuss the best practices for improving student results. Taluk-wise committees have also been formed to engage directly with students and address their concerns.
Moreover, a friendly environment will be maintained at the examination centres to ensure students are not stressed. CC cameras will be installed at each exam centre, with footage monitored in real-time at the District Commissioner’s office to prevent malpractices. Officials will be assigned in rotating shifts to monitor the process.
Special Considerations and Arrangements for Students
The DC also announced that hijabs will be allowed until students reach the examination centres, with special provisions made to ensure female students can securely keep their hijabs before entering the exam halls. In addition, KSRTC has been instructed to provide buses on all routes to facilitate easier access for students.
A total of 16,203 students are set to appear for the exams at 28 centres across the district, with all logistics and preparations in place to ensure a smooth and successful examination process.
