Bengaluru: The higher education institutions and universities which keep their campuses clean and maintain high standards of hygiene will be accorded higher ranking, says University Grants Commission (UGC). UGC has sent a note to all universities across the country in this regard.
The selected universities will be honoured with the Swacch award during a National level conference to be held on September 8 in New Delhi. The Human Resources Ministry will announce the ranking being the rating agency.
Interested universities can log in applications at www.mhrd.gov.in by July 31, said Prof. Muniraju, Acting Vice-Chancellor at Bangalore University and confirmed his varsity’s participation.
Toilet facility in hostels, cleanliness in toilets, maintenance, water facility, educational institution buildings’ status on cleanliness, garbage disposal and dirt/waste management, garbage disposal system, technological innovation and adaptation for solid and liquid waste management, hostel kitchen cleanliness, staff clothing, food preparation technology, water storage, pipeline systems, drinking water quality and greenery within the campus are the main parameters based on which the universities will be ranked.
