Bengaluru: The Rajasthan Cosmo Foundation Trust (RCFT) plans to organize the Umeed Run on September 3 at Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru. The total prize money will be Rs 2.10 lakh for the winners in three categories.
“The Umeed Run will have three categories – 10k, 5k, and 3 k. The run is aimed to raise funds for donating school uniforms to the needy children. Each set of uniform costs Rs 750,’’ said RCFT president Ranjeet Solanki.
The RCFT, a non-profit, charitable organization, works for the cause of providing school uniforms to underprivileged and needy children across Karnataka since 2006. The objective of RCFT’s Umeed is to provide a platform to serve the society and fulfil the social obligations by taking up the basic necessity of providing clothes to students in need.
“Rotary Club of Bangalore has also associated with us for this noble cause. We are providing school uniforms, socks, shoes, belts, ties and bags to the needy children in Karnataka,’’ Ranjeet Solanki said.
He said the running is not only great for soul but good for health. “Run ads value as training and racing are more meaningful by raising awareness and funds to support worthwhile causes. Hence, we have planned Umeed Run in which 5,000 people are expected to participate in different categories and support this cause,’’ he said.
He said the run will begin at 5.30 a.m. on September 3. “All participants and runners are donors as they would be contributing to this noble cause. Breakfast will be provided for the participants. Well-known playback singer Raghu Dixit perform at the stadium. There will be Zumba and cool-off sessions for the benefit of participants,’’ he said.
The participants will be given a goodie bag and a medal as a token of appreciation.
