Bengaluru: The state government and the BBMP deferred the naming ceremony of the Yalahanka flyover after of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar for an indefinite period following protests from local Kannada groups and the opposition leaders.
According to the sources, the state government was forced to postpone the event after officials informed that the BBMP didn’t follow the protocol of naming any road or building, and hence the same can be questioned at the court of law.
Following the advice, the state government called off the event.
However, if sources are to be believed, CM BS Yediyurappa doesn’t want the incident to dent his image.
“The CM instructed the BBMP officials to call off the event as he doesn’t want to identify with the hardcore RSS ideology,” added sources close to him.
