Bengaluru: Former Prime Minister and JD (S) supremo H. D. Deve Gowda has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for nominating the Hoysala architecture of Belur, Halebidu, and Somanathapura as India’s official nominations for UNESCO World Heritage status. He said that it is a great pride for Karnataka and especially to the people of Hassan.
Gowda wrote to PM Modi on January 2 urging him to consider the Hoysala architecture for the nominations. He also pointed out in his letter, that these nominations would help encourage tourism to the region.
“Since the Hoysala dossier was submitted as a reserve nomination last year, the document has already been submitted to UNESCO, and a preliminary review has already been completed, with positive feedback from ASI last year,” he said.
