Bengaluru: The United Kingdom-based University of Liverpool, which is in the process of setting up its Bengaluru campus at Alembic City near Whitefield, has announced that admissions are now open for the 2026–27 academic year. In a note issued to the media, the university invited prospective students to apply for undergraduate and postgraduate programmes through its official website.

Applications open for first batch in India

The upcoming University of Liverpool Bengaluru campus marks a major milestone for India–UK educational collaborations. Students interested in applying have been advised to submit their forms through the dedicated portal — bengaluru.liverpool.ac.uk — which has gone live for the inaugural admissions cycle.

The Bengaluru campus will offer undergraduate courses in Computer Science, Business Management, Accounting and Finance, and a programme in Game Design — which the university said will be the first-of-its-kind in India. Postgraduate offerings include one-year master’s programmes in Accounting and Finance and Computer Science.

University outlines vision for Bengaluru campus

In its detailed note, the University of Liverpool highlighted its academic and research priorities for the new India campus. The varsity said its R&D ambitions would focus on sustainability, digital transformation and health sciences — three areas expected to shape global innovation in the coming decade.

The institution emphasised that the new campus would feature state-of-the-art infrastructure, including smart classrooms designed for experiential learning, case-based teaching and flipped classroom pedagogy. Cross-disciplinary collaboration will be strongly encouraged, with students from different programmes expected to work together on research, projects and innovation-driven assignments.

Specialised laboratories — including facilities equipped with Bloomberg terminals — will offer students hands-on industry-standard exposure.

Focus on holistic learning and student experience

According to the university, the Bengaluru campus is being developed to provide a holistic and collaborative academic environment. The master plan includes innovation hubs, dedicated community zones, and modern student engagement spaces aimed at fostering creativity, teamwork and professional growth.

The note added that every aspect of the campus has been designed to support the overall development of students, both academically and socially.

Varsity leadership expresses confidence

Lucy Everest, the Chief Operating Officer of the University of Liverpool, said the institution was excited to welcome the first cohort of students to the Bengaluru campus.
“We want to provide the students an exceptional learning experience, and enhance their skills and employability. Alembic City is the perfect place to realise our vision. Students at the new campus will have the best facilities,” she said.

Everest added that the expansion into Bengaluru reflects the university’s long-term commitment to India’s academic ecosystem.

Alignment with National Education Policy

The University of Liverpool also praised the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, calling it a “transformative blueprint” aimed at expanding higher education access to 50% of the country’s youth. The Bengaluru campus, the university said, aligns with NEP’s goals of global collaboration, multidisciplinary learning and enhanced employability.

Education experts say the presence of a leading global university in Bengaluru could strengthen India’s position as an emerging international higher education hub.

Conclusion

With admissions for the first academic batch now open, the University of Liverpool’s Bengaluru campus is poised to become a significant addition to India’s growing roster of foreign universities operating in the country. As construction progresses and programme details are finalised, the campus is expected to play a major role in shaping future-ready talent aligned with both Indian and global academic priorities.
