Bengaluru: Karnataka recorded its fifth COVID-19 death, as its positive cases rose by six to 181, an official said on Wednesday.
“Till date, 181 Covid-19 positive cases have been confirmed. This includes five deaths and 28 discharges,” a health official told IANS.
On Wednesday, two people with Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) were among the six new Covid-19 positive cases.
According to the news bulletin released by the state health department, the most recent death is that of a 65-year-old man from Kalaburagi (Patient 177), who had a history of SARI. The health department has not specified any contact or travel history.
The old man’s discovery and death happened quickly as he was found to be COVID-19 positive only in the past 19 hours.
The other patient with SARI is a 26-year-old woman from the Uttara Kannada district (Patient 176). According to the health department, she had contact with a Dubai returnee. She has been admitted to a designated hospital in Bhatkal.
Patient 178 is the mother (72-years-old) of Patient 175 and is a resident of Kalaburagi.
Patient 179, a 35-year-old man from Mandya, is a contact of Patients 134 and 138.
Patients 180 (a 23-year-old man from Chikkaballapura) and 181 (a 27-year-old woman from Bengaluru) have a history of travel to Delhi.
