Bengaluru: Upparpet police have arrested one person and recovered 500 gms of gold jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh and solved 14 theft cases. The police have identified the accused as Cheluvaraya alias Cheluva, a resident of Ganangur, Srirangapatna taluk in Mandya district.
According to a press release from Deputy Commissioner Office, Bengaluru West, the accused was in judicial custody for involving in a theft case in Madiwala Police Station limits. Upparpet police took him into custody and interrogated him. The police said the accused has confessed doing the crime. Based on the information provided by the accused, the police have recovered 500 gms of gold jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh. With this, the theft cases registered at various police stations such as Upparpet (6 cases), Cottonpet (2 cases), Mico Layout (2 cases), Basavanagudi (one), Chickpet (one), Byadarahalli (one) and Hirisave (one) were solved.
Kalasipalya police arrest four, solve 20 theft cases
Kalasipalya police have arrested four people and recovered gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh. The police have identified the accused as Pandiraj (21) of Hegdenagar, Manjunath (22) of Cholanayakanahalli, Praveen (23) of Chamundeswari Layout, Naveen Kumar (21) of Anandnagar near Hebbal in Bengaluru.
The police have recovered one kg and 270 gms of gold jewellery and three kgs of silver ornaments. The police said the accused used to mortgage the stolen gold jewellery and silver ornaments with Manappuram and Muthoot Finance to lead a luxurious life. With the arrest of the accused, the police have solved 20 theft cases registered at nine police stations in the city.
