Bengaluru: Former chief secretary of the state J Alexander has resigned from the Congress party. He submitted his resignation papers to KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao.
According to sources in the Congress party, Alexander was a Congress ticket aspirant for the Bengaluru Central Lok Sabha constituency. However, upset by the party’s decision to not give him a ticket, he quit.
As per sources, Alexander and a few other senior Christain leaders of the party wanted at least one ticket for a candidate from the community in the Lok Sabha elections. But the Congress high command denied them a ticket.
“Party leader Ivan D’Souza had met all the disgruntled Christain leaders in Bengaluru on Tuesday and assured that the party would give a ticket to a member of the community in the MLC and Rajya Sabha elections. But Alexander was not happy,” said a Congress leader.
