Bengaluru: Mobile towers in and around residential areas, schools and hospitals have become a big menace. The Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) receive tens of complaints every week against the installation of mobile towers in these areas. In the absence of any clear policy, the ULBs are failing to take decisions regarding the issue. With the idea of forming scientific policies on mobile tower installation, the state government has decided to form a comprehensive policy.
Speaking to reporters in the city, urban development minister U T Khader informed that the state law department has been requested to prepare a new law in this regard. “Presently there is no clarity. We wanted to clear all doubts. Now, in the absence of a law, we are not able to take any decision on the complaints received against the mobile towers installed near schools, colleges and residential areas. Once this law is formed, we can initiate action and regulate the mobile towers,” he said.
