Bengaluru: The state government has constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the alleged financial irregularities at the Maharishi Valmiki Development Corporation and the related suicide of Chandrashekharan, superintendent of the Karnataka Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribes Corporation Limited (KMVSTCL). Chandrashekharan died by suicide in Shivamogga on May 26.

The SIT will be led by Additional DGP (Economic Offences, CID) Manish Kharbikar. Other members of the team include Bengaluru South Traffic DCP Shivaprakash Devaraju, Hariram Shankar (SP, State Intelligence), and Raghavendra Hegde (SP, CID).

The press release states that the SIT will investigate both cases, i,e the suicide case and delve into the financial irregularities within the corporation. All existing cases related to this matter, including the one filed at the Vinoba Nagar police station in Shivamogga concerning Chandrashekharan’s suicide and the one registered at the High Grounds Police regarding the corporation’s financial irregularities, will be transferred to the SIT. The team will also investigate any future cases arising from this investigation.
