Vrushabhavati river turns yellow, locals panic

Bengaluru: Vrushabhavati river, which flows through the rural parts of Bengaluru has turned yellow. The locals, who are panic-stricken by the development believe that the factories and industrial set-ups in the area have been releasing untreated water into the river, which may have led to pollution.

According to the locals, on Monday evening, as the rain started pouring, the inflow in the river also increased and later the water colour changed to yellow. Immediately locals alerted the state pollution control board authorities, who rushed to the spot and collected samples.

The factories located on both sides of the river released the untreated effluents to the river misusing the rain. The locals have urged the state pollution control board to initiate action immediately and save the river.
