Bengaluru: According to sources, the City police has seized 820 vehicles between 6.00 am and 8.00 pm, during the weekend curfew on Saturday January 8.
The total number of vehicles confiscated stands at 1,369 bikes, autos, and three-wheeled vehicles, including the 540 seized between December 28 and 5.00 am on Saturday.
On Saturday, police from the west division, which includes the Majestic and KR Market districts, made the most confiscation with 316, while officers from the south division seized 147 vehicles.
Motorists who broke the curfew near the KR Market area were subjected to swab tests conducted by West division police and BBMP employees.
Home Minister Araga Jnanendra went on a City tour with Bengaluru police chief Kamal Pant and other senior policemen to assess the weekend curfew. He also interacted with police officers on the street and inquired about their health.
Speaking to mediapersons he said that there had been a good response to curfew and that any decision to extend the restrictions would be made after consultations with experts.
