Bengaluru: Each day, the wildlife fossil issue in the state is becoming a growing controversy. Simultaneously, there was some dispute surrounding the use of peacock feathers in religious practices. To address this matter, the Forest Minister issued a significant statement.
In response to accusations by BJP leaders regarding the use of peacock feathers in dargahs and other locations, Forest Minister Ishwar Khandre clarified that peacock feathers have been granted an exemption under Section 43 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
Addressing reporters at Vidhana Soudha, he remarked, The BJP members tend to raise disputes on everything without reason. The Wildlife Protection Act does not impose any restrictions on the use of peacock feathers. Exporting peacock feathers or items made from them to foreign nations is prohibited. Nevertheless, collecting naturally shed feathers from peacocks and selling them domestically is entirely legal. However, it is a criminal act to forcibly pluck feathers from peacocks.
