Bengaluru: Senior IPS officer Alok Kumar, who was recently transferred from his posting as Bengaluru city Commissioner of Police after a mere 47 days of service, has said that he will legally fight the transfer order.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, August 6, he said, “My legal battle is not for my profession, but for my dignity.”
On his transfer, he said, “I was expecting an official transfer order from the government and for this purpose, I stayed back at in my office till 5.45 PM on August 1.But when I did not receive any order, I left for my residence. I’m sure that some individual or a group of individuals has passed on some misleading information about me to the government, prompting them to transfer me.”
The top officer has opined that he might have been transferred based on the allegations that illegally permitted live bands, clubs, real estate mafia etc.
It can be recalled that on Friday, August 1, IPS officer Alok Kumar was transferred immediately by the newly formed government led by BJP state president B S Yediyurappa. It is also suspected that he was transferred because he allegedly ‘manhandled’ one of the BJP’s MLA during the recent political turmoil involving the 17 Congress and JDS rebel MLAs’ resignation row.
