Bengaluru: Mandya MP-elect Sumalatha Ambareesh stated recently that she will not join the BJP. She announced her decision after a meeting with BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa and former CM S M Krishna.
Speaking to reporters after meeting the two, she stated that the people elected her as an independent candidate. “I can become just a co-member of the BJP but I am not interested in it,” she said.
“Activists and supporters of all the parties, including the Congress supported me so I will take a decision only after consulting my voters,” she said.
Earlier, it was speculated that Sumalatha will join the BJP and become a minister in the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
