Bengaluru: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa-led Bharatiya Janata Party government has come to power after the 14-month-old Congress-Janata Dal (S) state coalition was dissolved.

While the Congress has been busy attacking the BJP for coming to power through illegal means, JDS Supremo HD Devegowda has taken a different stand.

Speaking to media, here on Sunday, August 4, former prime minister H D Deve Gowda said, “As it has been nine days now that the newly formed BJP government has come to power, we will not make any attempts to destabilize the government. There are only three years and eight months left for the 14th Assembly to dissolve and 15th to be welcomed.”

“There is now going to be by-elections in 17 assembly constituencies, and we’ll concentrate on that. We are open for a coalition with the Congress party once again, but the only condition is that they will have to co-operate with us”, he added.

Coalition with Congress, yet again has taken the leaders of both the JDS and the Congress as well its party workers by shock, as it can be recalled that HDD, just a few days ago had made it clear that he will not join hands with the Congress in future. “It’s now a closed chapter,” HDD had said.
