Bengaluru: Kannada cine super star Yash who hit headlines during Cauvery struggle in October 2016 following his open challenge to few electronic media journalists over solving the problems faced by the farming community has taken up an unique initiative.

According to the sources close to him, Yash has launched a silent initiative to create water literacy among the general public across the state. Under this initiative Yash wanted to recharge the water bodies across the state to ensure that farmers will not face drought in coming years. As part of his initiative he has decided to join hands with experts who have working knowledge of rejuvenating the water bodies.

According to the sources in the Sandalwood, Yash who returned from his honeymoon recently held talks with renowned environmentalists Shivananda Kalave of Uttara Kannada and Radhakrishna Bhadti who have worked extensively on protecting water bodies. Yash wanted to launch this initiative under Yashomarga, a volunteer organisation founded by himself with the aim of building network of water experts and volunteers across the state to help the farmers to rejuvenate the water bodies and support agriculture.

It can be recalled that at the time of Cauvery struggle, Yash raised the issues related to drought situation across the state and pitched for a permanent solution. But his argument led to controversy as he allegedly challenged the few electronic media over their role in solving the issues faced by the farmers.
