Bengaluru: The state government has finally decided to abolish the orderly system in the police department.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, home minister G Parmeshwar said that the abolition of orderly system will be carried out on phased manner and no time frame has been fixed so for, thus leading to speculations on effective implementation of the decision as it comes with caveat.
The Home Minister has announced that police constables will be removed from the officials’ residents where they are performing menial jobs. The government will withdraw them from orderly services and an alternative will be provided for the top officials in order to get proportionate assistance by recruiting people directly to those posts. “People will be recruited exclusively for such services. The process will be done on phases starting from Bengaluru and extended to other districts gradually,” he said. According to minister, there are nearly 2,500 constables who are posted with various officers as orderly.
Yet in another move, a five member committee will be formed to look into various demands put forth by police constabulary including implementation of seventh pay scale recommendations, he added. The government will act according to the recommendations of the committee which is to submit its report in a month’s time.
Responding to the grievances of women constables, the state government is under consideration of constructing separate restrooms for men and women at police stations, though once again there is no time frame for this.
Adding further, he said that police quarters which are in dilapidated condition will be razed down to make way for new ones, he promised.
