A woman in Bengaluru has gone viral after attempting an early morning 12-kilometre jog across the city to surprise her best friend for breakfast. Her video, documenting the journey from Sarjapur to Mahadevapura, has resonated with many for highlighting the city’s pedestrian challenges.
The woman, identified as Keerti Purswani, shared the clip on Instagram, where she described the run as both emotional and exhausting.
Surprise plan began at 6 am
Keerti said she wanted to meet her best friend, who lives in Mahadevapura and works at Google in Bagmane Tech Park. She started her journey at 6 am while her husband and friend were asleep, hoping to complete the run and enjoy breakfast together.
She recorded her progress kilometre by kilometre, passing landmarks including lakeside stretches and hospitals, while candidly admitting the run was tougher than expected.
Traffic, dust and no footpaths
As the journey progressed, the city woke up — bringing traffic congestion, dust and dangerous road crossings. She said her heart rate remained high and she struggled with side pain, forcing her to slow down.
Near the final stretch, she said there were no sidewalks and she had to run on the main road amid moving traffic. She eventually reached at 7.45 am, only to learn that her friend had already left for work.
“It’s a fail,” she joked
Calling the mission a “fail”, she joked that people should not make best friends who work at Google because they are always busy.
Her caption compared the run to playing a real-life obstacle course on Bengaluru roads.
Internet finds it relatable
Many users praised her determination while also pointing to the city’s lack of pedestrian-friendly infrastructure. Others said only in Bengaluru could a simple jog become such an adventure.
The viral clip has once again sparked conversations about walkability, traffic and urban planning in Bengaluru.
